Kiki Spicy Sesame Paste Noodles (Vegan) – A Well-Known Brand, But Just Okay!

Kiki is a pretty famous Taiwanese brand when it comes to instant noodles, and their Spicy Sesame Paste Noodles is quite popular in the market. But after trying it, I feel that it’s decent, but nothing surprising.

Price & value

The price is neither cheap nor expensive. It is just about the average for sesame noodles. Given Kiki’s brand reputation, it’s reasonable, but not exactly a steal in terms of value.

Taste is 6/10 – fragrant but lacks depth

Rating: 6 out of 10.
  • Sesame sauce: It has a nice aroma, with tiny salt granules inside that give a slight salty bite. It’s unique but doesn’t add much excitement.
  • Spicy flavour: There’s a Sichuan pepper fragrance, but it’s not spicy or numbing at all, so if you love strong, bold flavours, you might find it too mild.
  • Appearance: The sauce gives the noodles a slightly reddish colour, making them look more appetising.

Texture & cooking tips

The noodles get soft very quickly relatively. If you cook them for 6 minutes, they’ll be quite mushy. For the best texture, 3 minutes is better, depending on your stove’s heat.

Eat it immediately after cooking!

If you let it sit for too long, the noodles become sticky and clump together. The smooth texture will be gone, so make sure to mix well and enjoy after cooking.

Decent for a quick meal

  • Pros: popular brand, decent taste, pepper aroma, fair pricing
  • Cons: soft texture, no numbing spice, lacks excitement

If you enjoy sesame noodles with a hint of spicy sesame, this is a solid option for an easy meal. But if you’re looking for bold flavours or a spicy kick, you might want to check out other choices!
