Fried plant-based shrimps with purple onion is a cruelty-free alternative to a classic seafood dish. This recipe offers a delicious twist on traditional shrimp, utilising plant-based ingredients. Ingredients
- Plant-based shrimps – 100 g
- Medium purple onion – 1
- Ginger – 3 slices
- Vegetable oil – 1 tablespoon (for frying)
- Salt – 1/4 teaspoon
- Mirin – 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce – 1 tablespoon
Food preparation
- If using frozen plant-based shrimp, thaw them according to the package instructions
- Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture
- Peel the purple onion and slice it thinly. Set them aside
Direction
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over high heat
- Add ginger and purple onions into the frying pan
- Carefully place the shrimp in the hot oil
- Add salt, soy sauce and mirin into the frying pan
- Sauté the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on each side until the sauce is totally soaked
- Plant-based shrimps with purple onions is ready to serve.
