Soya is an excellent source of protein, making it ideal for vegans and vegetarians. Fresh soya milk is a healthy option of plant-based milk. The key ingredients for soya milk is yellow bean, also known as soybeans.
Ingredients (serves 2 people)
- 150g of yellow beans
- Water for soaking
- Water for blending (The proportion of beans to water for blending is 1:3 in volume. )
Direction
- Dried yellow beans are required to soak until they are softened enough. Rinse the dried yellow beans thoroughly and place them in a large bowl. Then, use enough water to cover the beans in a large bowl. Let them soak overnight or for at least 9 hours.
- Use a bowl to transfer the beans to a blender and add 3 bowls of water to cover them in the blender. The proportion of beans to water is 1:3 in volume. This volume will be nearly the volume of the jar of plant-based soya milk.
- Blend on high speed until you achieve a smooth and creamy consistency. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your blender.
- Pour the liquid into a bag for food and transfer it to the large pot. Gently squeeze the cloth or bag to extract as much soy milk liquid as possible into a large pot.
- Cook the soybean mixture. Boil it. Adjust the heat to low level after the mixture is boiled.
- Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
- Skimmed off any foam that forms on the surface.
A jar of fresh soya milk is ready. You can drink it when it is hot. Alternatively, you can pour them into a bottle and put it into the fringe. Enjoy the great drink!
