WeiLih Spicy Soup Instant Noodle (Vegan)

This “WeiLih Spicy Soup Instant Noodle (Vegan)” from a Taiwanese brand is a vegetarian instant noodle that brings lots of yummy.

Open the orange-red packaging, and inside there are two small seasoning packs. The noodles are long and thin, and the texture feels kind of like those crunchy snack noodles! They cook super fast, just boil for about 2 to 3 minutes and it’s done! If you’re too slow, the noodles get soft really quick, so you have to catch the perfect timing!

A warm noodle soup with a gentle kick

What really surprised me is the flavour of the soup. It smells so good and the spicy layers are quite interesting! Once you take a sip, the rich spicy aroma hits your nose, and the light numbing feeling from the Sichuan pepper starts dancing on your tongue. It’s like a tiny electric spark waking up your taste buds!

But to be honest, the “numbing” feeling isn’t very strong or sharp. Compared to some Sichuan-style spicy soups, this one is much milder. Still, even though the numbing part isn’t super powerful, the overall flavor is really surprising! The soup is rich, layered, very fragrant, and not oily or overly salty.

For spiciness, I think it’s in the mild to medium range. It feels warm, not dry or harsh; spicy, but not in-your-face. Especially when the weather gets colder, this kind of heat is like a winter lifesaver! It warms you from the belly to your whole body, a gentle, cozy kind of happiness. The soup stays tasty even down to the very last sip!

Even though it’s not super spicy or numbing, the overall flavour is still full of surprise.

This noodle may not be the super intense spicy type, but that gentle spicy and numbing feeling together is something not many spicy noodles can do. And the best part? It’s vegetarian! It’s really rare to find a veggie-friendly spicy soup noodle that still tastes this good!

Phatlicious rating

We’re giving it a tasty 8 out of 10 on our Phatlicious-o-meter!

Although the price is a bit higher than regular instant noodles, it’s still within the range of Taiwanese gourmet noodles. I think with this kind of quality and flavour, the price is pretty fair. There are lots of mala dry noodles out there, but a mala soup noodle that’s vegetarian? Not that many choices!

Would I buy it again? I think… maybe in winter, when I really feel like a warm bowl.

To be honest, I don’t want spicy food every day, but sometimes on a cold night or a tired workday, I’d just think, “Tonight I want a bowl!” A bowl of noodle soup that’s numbing just right, spicy in a cozy way, and totally vegetarian. It is the thing to make me sweat a little and smile a lot.
